The rubbery, sugary comfort of chewing gum helps MIMI cope with an unexpected romantic encounter with his best friend NOLAN, a rekindling with childhood friend IZZY, and mountains of existential expectations from his mother MÃE. When the gum-chewing lands MIMI in the hospital with lock-jaw, he must decide whose expectations to meet to silence his never-ending inner voices that won’t shut up until he makes a decision.

But this is what being 19 is all about, right?

CHEW is a two-act coming-of-age dramedy and ensemble piece about expectations, love, identity, coping, and care.
